Alex Romano

Senior Director

Alex Romano is a corporate and crisis communications professional with more than a decade's worth of experience in navigating high-profile and sensitive issues for clients across a wide range of industries. Alex’s expertise includes strategic communications and engaging key stakeholders to influence public policy. To that end, Alex possesses deep experience leading responses during active reputational crises, with a focus on proactive risk sensing, helping organizations anticipate and mitigate potential reputational concerns.

Before joining Narrative, Alex was a Vice President at Edelman, where he helped lead the firm’s Washington, DC Crisis & Risk team. His work included managing global issues such as recalls and sponsorship controversies for an apparel company and supporting crisis response for an international automaker after the arrest of a top executive. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Alex helped lead the response for a senior living company with over 200 communities in the U.S. and Canada. As a key member of the organization’s Labor Practice, Alex supported clients through employee activism, union issues, and contract bargaining and provided embedded support through one of the largest healthcare strikes in the history of the U.S.

Alex began his career working for the Marijuana Policy Project. He supported efforts to change marijuana laws at both the state and federal levels, testifying before legislative bodies in New York and Washington, DC, and contributing to the success of Colorado's landmark Amendment 64 initiative.

Alex graduated with a degree in Political Science from SUNY Oswego, where he was a member of the university’s rugby team. Alex now lives in DC with his wife Emily, dog Basil, and daughter Josephine. When he’s not managing crises, you can find him in the park looking for birds or throwing a ball around on the National Mall.
