Narrative Strategies Adds Former Bloomberg Managing Editor Jesse Westbrook as Managing Director

Firm Continues Strategic Expansion by Adding Veteran Global Finance Reporter to Serve Growing Financial Services Client Base

Washington, D.C. – Narrative Strategies announced today the hiring of Managing Director Jesse Westbrook, a veteran journalist who has covered the global finance industry for more than two decades. Westbrook reported on financial enforcement, regulations, the hedge fund industry, and insurance in the United States and Europe at Bloomberg for 18 years, where he was most recently managing editor for U.S. financial coverage. He then co-founded Capitol Account, a daily newsletter covering the intersection of Wall Street and Washington.

“Jesse understands the financial world inside and out, bringing unparalleled insight and experience to Narrative as we continue to expand both our client base and our capabilities in the financial services sector,” said Narrative Strategies CEO and Founding Partner Ken Spain. “As we accelerate our firm’s growth, we will continue to add world-class talent from diverse backgrounds that can help our clients navigate an increasingly challenging environment and achieve their issues and reputation management goals. Since our founding, Narrative has been an invaluable partner to clients throughout the financial services industry. Jesse will immediately bring the institutional knowledge, strategic insights, and long-standing media relationships needed to strengthen a key focus area for our team.”

Westbrook comes to Narrative after co-founding Capitol Account, where he provided deep insights and analysis on financial regulations for an audience of policy influencers, elected officials, regulators, and investment industry professionals. Before launching Capitol Account, Westbrook held several roles covering financial services for Bloomberg, where he most recently served as managing editor of U.S. financial coverage. He previously led Bloomberg’s financial services regulation team in Washington, DC, and was an editor on the financial enforcement team in London. Westbrook was also the organization’s lead European hedge fund reporter based in London and covered the Securities and Exchange Commission and the insurance industry in the United States. Westbrook earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado and a master’s in journalism from Northwestern University.

Westbrook’s addition is one of several new hires since Narrative announced a strategic partnership with Clarion Capital Partners last month. The firm continues to position itself for significant growth by adding talent and capabilities that provide clients with a full suite of public affairs, strategic communications, and reputation management services from inception to execution.
