Tom Dunn

Creative Director

Tom Dunn is a seasoned creative professional with a track record of success in political advertising and media production, backed by technical proficiency. His gift for creative development has allowed him to thrive in political communications over the past 18 years.

Thanks to Tom’s political know-how and pliable vision, he spent his career developing imaginative and thoughtful content. He understands that nothing happens in a vacuum and thrives when faced with unique challenges. Tom has leveraged that understanding to produce best-in-class creative content that has moved the needle for high-profile political and issue advocacy campaigns throughout his career.

His innovative approach to creative development and paid media planning has earned him recognition as an award-winning ad maker and storyteller, with over 50 industry awards. Notably, he was honored by the American Association of Political Consultants as a member of their esteemed ’40 Under 40’ class of 2019.

Before joining Narrative, Tom was the Creative Director at OnMessage, Inc., one of the nation’s top political consulting firms. He built a full-service creative team there, producing over 2,000 television, radio, digital, and print ads for political, public affairs, and advocacy clients. Tom also served as Media Operations Director at the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), where he ran the organization’s in-house production studio and media research efforts. Tom played a pivotal role in the historic 2010 election cycle, contributing to the creation of the ‘most viewed political video’ in the committee’s successful campaign to retake the majority.

Tom graduated from Shippensburg University with a Bachelor of Arts and served on its Board of Trustees from 2009-2016. Tom’s first-ever advocacy ad was a hyper-targeted video extolling the virtues of a pet dog—it had a 100% CTR to an audience of two.
