As policymakers, business leaders, and industry advocates navigate a rapidly changing landscape, understanding public opinion has never been more important.
Mark Keida, Partner and Head of Insights, recently joined Brody Mullins on 535 News to discuss polling data shaping conversations in Washington and beyond. Mark examined how Americans are thinking about three issues driving public debate: affordability, private credit, and artificial intelligence.
Narrative's NEXUS Survey showed that 61% of Americans want to hear more from Washington about affordability, making it one of the most salient issues in the current political environment. As Mark suggests in his interview, there is a growing disconnect between how Americans feel about their economic circumstances and the conversations taking place on Capitol Hill. While policymakers debate a range of issues, voters remain focused on the rising costs that affect their daily lives, including housing and healthcare, groceries, and energy costs.
Mark also addressed the private credit industry, drawing on findings from Narrative's NEXUS Pulse. The research found that awareness of private credit remains relatively low, creating a challenge and opportunity for industry leaders. While many conversations focus on technical market dynamics, key stakeholders are more interested in understanding real-world impact.
Mark also addressed AI, one of the fastest-growing technologies in history, and public sentiment around the topic.
According to Narrative's NEXUS Pulse on data centers, roughly half of Americans use AI tools. Yet, only 40% of respondents say they trust the AI industry to do the right thing, and 57% support additional regulation, the highest for any industry. For companies in that space, that means establishing credibility, communicating their value clearly, and demonstrating a commitment to responsible innovation.
