"When a policy battle reaches Congress, a regulatory investigation becomes public, or a corporate crisis occurs, most organizations prepare for impact; Narrative Strategies sees an opportunity. It helps organizations seize those moments and to stay ahead of the story and influence what happens next, a skill set that is particularly valuable in a business environment that has never been more demanding or polarized. Based in Washington, DC, with offices in New York and Florida, Narrative works with Fortune 500 companies, trade associations, industry coalitions, and nonprofits in sectors such as biopharmaceuticals, consumer products, energy, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and technology.
The team brings a wealth of corporate, political, and media experience. Before founding Narrative, CEO Ken Spain led corporate communications and external affairs for Koch Industries, the second-largest privately-held company in the US, while other partners include a former Wall Street Journal reporter; veterans of positions with House Republican Leadership, the executive branch, and on Capitol Hill, as well as numerous political campaigns.
The firm grew by close to 40% in 2025 and now employs a team of more than 100 senior strategists and communicators. In 2024, Narrative opened an office in West Palm Beach, Florida, to better serve clients in one of the nation's most vibrant and diverse economic hubs. In 2025, Narrative launched a new office in New York, enhancing the firm's presence in financial services, media, and technology communications. The New York team, led by Sloane & Company veteran Caleb Barnhart and cryptocurrency and digital assets communications experts Graham Newhall, supports an expanding client base in capital markets and emerging technology, bridging Wall Street and Washington.
The firm has invested in its own Narrative Insights practice led by partner Mark Keida. Insights is an agile, in-house team that executes quantitative and qualitative research, including polling, message testing, audience modeling, and advanced analytics to help organizations understand public perception and evaluate communication strategies in real time. NEXUS, an annual proprietary survey, covers a wide array of issues, providing clients with insights into the changing operating landscape and perceptions of the business. NEXUS Pro is Narrative's first new proprietary research product, a tailored survey tool that provides senior leaders with clear insights into the perspectives of key audiences on policy, market dynamics, and reputation issues."
