Firm Marks Two-Year Anniversary with Addition of Director Tyler Hernandez, Strategic Communications Manager Nick Calderon, Senior Manager of Operations Elizabeth Berry, Strategic Communications Associates Charlotte Freeman and Zachary McCutcheon

Washington, D.C. – Narrative Strategies announced today the addition of five staff members, including Tyler Hernandez, who joins the firm as a Director and marks the firm’s fifth senior hire in 2021. Hernandez is a veteran Washington communicator, previously serving as a Senior Advisor for Policy and External Affairs at the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) as well as in several communications roles on Capitol Hill. In addition to Hernandez, Narrative also announced the hiring of Strategic Communications Manager Nick Calderon, Senior Manager of Operations Elizabeth Berry, and Strategic Communications Associates Charlotte Freeman and Zachary McCutcheon.

 

Narrative marked its second anniversary in September 2021. The firm has doubled in size since its inception and was recently named an Agency Elite Top 100 firm by PR News as well as one of PR Week’s Top Places to Work.

Before joining the PBGC, Hernandez worked on both sides of Capitol Hill as Communications Director for Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. Hernandez also managed media relations for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and previously worked in communications at the Hoover Institute. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Communication Studies from Tulane University.

 

Nick Calderon joins Narrative from the Glen Echo Group, where he worked with clients on several public policy issues including FinTech and telecommunications. He previously worked in various capacities managing bipartisan communications and issue management efforts at the local, state, and federal levels. Calderon graduated from Miami University with a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communications.

 

Elizabeth Berry comes to Narrative from the office of Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE), where she served as Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff. Berry previously interned at the Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Equal Opportunity Employment and graduated from Iona College with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Speech Communications.

 

Charlotte Freeman joined Narrative as an intern in June 2021 and has worked with a variety of clients to deliver social media content, research, and media monitoring. Freeman, who also interned with MDB Communications, graduated from Washington & Lee University with a bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communication.

 

Zachary McCutcheon comes to Narrative from TD International and previously worked for the Center for Strategic Studies in Jordan. McCutcheon earned a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Johns Hopkins University.
